A contra-indication is a condition or factor that serves as a reason to withhold a certain treatment due to the harm that it would cause the patient.
Contra-indications requiring medical permission:
In circumstances where medical permission cannot be obtained clients will be required to sign an informed consent form for the following conditions:
Pregnancy
Cardio vascular conditions (thrombosis, phlebitis, hypertension, hypotension, heart conditions)
Hemophilia
Medical oedema
Osteoporosis
Arthritis
Epilepsy
Recent Operations
Asthma
Bell’s Palsy
Cancer
Cervical spondylitis
Slipped Disc
Acute rheumatism
Contra-indications that will restrict or prevent treatment:
Fever
Contagious or infectious diseases
Under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol
Diarrhoea and vomiting
Skin diseases
Undiagnosed lumps and bumps
Localised swelling
Inflammation
Varicose Veins
Cuts
Bruises
Abrasions
Hormonal implants
Haematoma
Hernia
Recent fractures (minimum 3 months)
Conditions affecting the neck
